House Republicans Take Meaningful Steps towards Fixing New Hampshire’s Bail System

House Majority Leader Jason Osborne (R-Auburn) released the following statement after the House passed HB318, relative to bail commissioners, the standards applicable to and the administration of bail, and making an appropriation.
“I want to thank House Republicans for leading the way in passing this important legislation that will take meaningful steps to address the issues caused by bail reform. Since prior attempts at bail reform passed, we have seen property crimes go up and police are worn down from having to repeatedly arrest the same people, only to see them back on the streets shortly after. Letting the status quo continue is not an option.”
“This newly passed legislation introduces several significant measures designed to enhance public safety and support law enforcement efforts. These changes represent a broad agreement, incorporating input from all stakeholders involved. I am hopeful that these steps will make a meaningful difference in our communities. House Republicans remain committed to ensuring the safety of all Granite Staters.”
