Rep. D.J. Bettencourt to address Salem Republicans
House Majority Leader will discuss legislative achievements and “Caylee’s Law”
Salem –NH House Majority Leader David “D.J.” Bettencourt will be the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Salem Republican Town Committee on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Kelley Library.
Rep. Bettencourt will address the accomplishments of the recent legislative session as well as the issues likely to be taken up in January such as same-sex marriage, terms for judges, and privatizing prisons. Additionally, he will talk about his efforts to introduce “Caylee’s Law,” making it a crime for a parent to fail to report a missing child.
A graduate of UNH and current student at NH School of Law, Bettencourt is in his third term representing Salem and Windham. He was elected by his colleagues earlier this year to lead the 300-member Republican caucus, shaping and promoting their agenda of lower taxes, decreased regulation, and greater individual freedom.
The Salem Republican Town Committee meets on the first Thursday of the month at the Kelley Library. Meetings are open to all those who support Republican ideals. More information is available at www. SalemNHGOP.com.
